Easter Oranges – Monday 2nd April 2018
It was a very cold and wet Bank Holiday Easter Monday in Morpeth however, there was still a warm welcome at Morpeth Town Hall for the annual aged tradition of handing out oranges to children. This tradition goes back to when the fruit was considered a real luxury and was given as an Easter gift to the children as a treat.
The Mayor of Morpeth, Councillor Nic Best, along with other Councillors and the Deputy Town Clerk welcomed children to the Town Hall where after receiving their orange, took part in an Easter Egg Hunt, awarding chocolate Easter eggs to the winners.
The event was enjoyed by everyone, young and old.
