The Woodland Trust Grant

Morpeth Town Council had applied to The Woodland Trust for 420 mixed fruit and nut tress.
We have received some great news, our application has been successful!
In the autumn to Woodland Trust will deliver a mixture of native British trees including Blackthorn which produces sloes, the gin makers favorite, along with crab apples and damsons.
The winning bid includes some hazel saplings which will be grown and coppiced to produce pea and bean poles for the allotments. The trees will be planted on a vacant unlettable allotment in Middlegreens and will be looked after by the Morpeth in Bloom group.
