Help the Mayor raise the funds for a new Northumbria Blood Bike christened ‘Morpeth’ in honour of our lovely town!
2019/20 Mayor of Morpeth, Alison Byard, was not a runner. However, such is her dedication to raising money for Northumbria Blood Bikes, she has taken on the huge challenge of running the Great North Run. She enlisted the support of friends Claire and Lesley, and has been pounding the streets come rain, hail, shine, and indeed snow, to make sure she makes the start line on 8 September ready for a gruelling 13.1 miles.
Life saving charity Northumbria Blood Bikes is Alison’s chosen charity for her Mayorship. Volunteer bikers make out of hours and emergency deliveries of essential blood products in all weathers between hospitals and healthcare sites across the North East, as well as to the Great North Air Ambulance. It is run by volunteers and saves our NHS thousands of pounds.
Alison was especially inspired by the story of a close friend whose life was saved after childbirth by emergency deliveries of 20 pints of blood and blood products by her local Blood Bikers.
Please support us to support Northumbria Blood Bikes, we’d love to raise enough to fund a new ‘Morpeth’ Blood Bike!
