The North of  England’s gas distributor, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), will soon be starting essential work to replace the ageing metallic gas mains in Bridge Street and Oldgate, Morpeth.

They will be replacing 550 metres of old metal gas mains with new durable plastic pipes, to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas for years to come.

Work is scheduled to begin on Monday 31st July 2017 and is expected to take around 6 weeks to complete.  (You will receive further notification about the works and how it will affect you in due course.

The dedicated Customer Care Officer (CCO) for the North Tyne area, Ian Burns, will be available throughout the duration of the project to answer any questions or concerns you may have.  Once the project is underway, Ian will provide regular updates as appropriate and will be door knocking in the area to chat about the works and to give the opportunity for feedback or comments.

In addition, there will be a customer drop in session in Morpeth Town Hall, Market Place, Morpeth NE61 1LZ between 5pm and 7pm on Wednesday 21st June 2017.  The customer drop in session is a great opportunity to meet the team and to find out more about the replacement works and how you may be affected.  NGN representatives will be at the meeting and will be able to answer any questions and concerns you may have.
